VisionK was started in 2004 by Deane Hill, Ben and Unathi Loos, in response to the needs of the youth in Kayamandi, a township outside of Stellenbosch, South Africa.

The programme was put together on the basis of socioeconomic problems that are prevalent in this area. Most of the youth in Kayamandi lack knowledge of opportunities that are available in South Africa. Most lack the motivation and belief that they can overcome their dire poverty and have a successful future.The programme helps grade 10 pupils from Kayamandi High School to realize a better future through skill building and empowerment.
